pt. 12

Three more days went by until Edith’s kingdom became visible but Edith quickly veered away over to another field.
“Wait! What are we doing?!” Scotty asked.
“Nobody in my kingdom, not even my parents know i’m a dragon.”
“I thought you were an elf!”
“Cross-breed, yes that is a thing, my father was hunted down and my mother remarried a human. It’s complicated, don't worry about it.”

When they walked into the kingdom everyone saw Edith and quickly dropped to their knees in respect. Scotty stared at them. They were all wearing fine clothing and had sparkling jewelry (Or at least the women did). Soon they arrived at the palace and two tall knights opened the doors but pointed their swords at Scotty’s throat.
“Hey!” Edith growled at them. “Show some respect! He is the prince of the kingdom of Zilloplaq!”
“Please forgive us Your majesty,” The two knights replied and bowed in unison.
“Come on,” Edith tugged on Scotty’s arm.
The two royals walked on until they came to a long corridor. Edith took a deep breath and walked down the corridor, or else she walked into it, it was more like a wall with a hall painted onto it. Scotty watched in horror as she disappeared. Edith’s hand reached out and dragged him through. When they emerged on the other side, the room was full of of different potions and cauldrons, enchanted items and several eyeballs (that part kind of grossed him out).
“Mom!!!!!” Edith cried out and a silver mist greeted her. The mist slowly formed into the form of a woman and the details soon followed.
“Hi mom!” Edith hugged her.
“Oh! Hi honey, why are you back?”
“My friend,” She gestured to Scotty, who blushed. “Needs help, he was bitten by a you know what.”
“I see, you were right to bring him to me, come, this way.” Edith’s mother led the two into a room filled with medical supplies and had Scotty sit down on a bench.
“Edith why don’t you go say hi to your father, i need to deal with this.” she gestured to Scotty’s arm.
Edith sighed and left the room.

As Edith was walking down the hall a shadow drifted through the wall and stood in front of her. It smirked as it saw how angry it made her.
“What do you want Nicole,” Edith growled.
“I heard what you said about me back in the forest, do you know how much that hurt?” The shadow made a very convincing sad face.
“Sure i know, that’s why i said it, you deserved it!”
“What did i ever do to you?”
“Everything, you met me, you talked to me, you exist in the first place!”
“Fine, have it your way, just know, i never fail, if i want you, i get you, it's the way of the world.”
“Dream on little goblin!”
“Woah! Such harsh words, Any reason for them? Do I sense a tone of jealousy in your voice?”
“Now way! Just get lost! And don't think I don't know what you're up to!”
“Toodles!” Nick flew off. Edith sighed and walked on.

“There! You're all fixed up!” Edith's mom dusted off her apron.
“Thanks!” Scotty's arm felt better than it ever had. Just then Edith burst into the room and hugged her mom.
“Oh!” Her mom shouted. “What's this for?”
“Nicole is back.” Edith whispered in her mother's ear.
Her eyes widened. “You mean Nicole Nicole?”
Edith nodded. Her mother stood up, walked over to a large bugle horn and blew. Scotty saw out the window, all the villagers were scrambling to get into a shelter.
“What's going on?” He asked.
“Remember the girl you met in the woods?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Well mom is warning everyone to get inside the seller so they aren't blasted to oblivion when she attacks, I just met her again in the hall which means she is coming for you.”
Scotty's eyes widened as the castle shook. Houses crumbled to pieces.
“Wait! Those are-”
“Yeah Giants, I know, and dragons.” Edith interrupted him.
“Mom is it time?”
“Yes.”
“Time for what?!” Scotty was more confused than ever.
“Want a chance to prove yourself young prince?” Edith's mother asked him.
“Mom, don't bother he is terrible at fighting!”
“We shall see, here, it's an enchanted sword, anything it slices will turn to stone.”
“Wow, cool, thanks!”
“Come on then knight in shining armor, to the field!”

“What???!!!”

so recently i have been cutting chapters in half so that these posts wouldn't be too long, but i have recently decided against it. meaning that my next story part will be a full chapter, hopefully.

pt. 11

The sun started to fall and the moon began to rise, but it was another day before it was really night because the sun and moon had planned a picnic get together and both fell asleep after eating too much. At last though, the moon was awake and the sun prepared for the next day. Scotty’s eyes felt heavy. Loudly, he yawned.
“You know, if you’re tired you can go to sleep,” Edith mentioned.
“No, I shouldn’t.” Scotty yawned.
“Suit yourself, but don't blame me when we need to keep moving and you fall over.”
Slowly Scotty gave into Edith’s suggestions and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning Scotty woke up to find himself in a bird nest like fort and the bright sun shining on his face. He dug in his pocket for some silver coins to buy some food but his hand came out empty. His eyes widened and he looked around the fort and spotted Edith, who was still in dragon form and had a burnt patch under her. He ran over and shook her.
“Edith! Edith wake up!”
Edith didn't move. Scotty shook her again but she still didn’t wake. Scotty took out a needle and thrust it into Edith’s foot. She leaped up and howled in pain, quickly becoming human again and rubbing her bloody foot.
“What was that for?!” She growled at him.
“Someone has robbed us!”
Edith stared at him in shock. The bushes beside them rumbled and a dark figure tumbled from them, clutching it’s ribs and shaking with laughter.
“Who goes there?!” Edith’s hands turned into fire and Scotty took out his sword.
“Hey, watch where you point those things! It’s only me!” the shadow said.
Scotty’s eyes widened. “Vulpine?”
“Uh, Duh! Of course it’s me! Who did you think it was?”
“Oh uh, never mind, what are you doing here?!”
“Exploring of course! And I figured i could pick up some extra dough while i was at it!” she tossed Scotty’s bag of money in the air and caught it before stuffing it back into her suit.
“Hey!” He swiped his sword at her legs (which she jumped gracefully over,) “That’s mine!”
“Yoink! But not anymore!” Vulpine ran off. But before she was out of range, Scotty could have swore he saw a tail sprout from behind and ears from her head.
“We have to go after her!” Scotty demanded.
“Why? I have plenty money,” Edith questioned him.
“She turned into an animal!”
Edith blinked at him.
“You’re crazy,” She giggled.
“It’s true!”
“Sure, okay, but don't blame me when you die ten times faster than normal!”
But Scotty ran off before he heard the rest. Before he got very far though, he ran into something.
“Hey watch it!” a girl's voice shouted in his ear.
Scotty backed away to see a girl who looked about his age with dirty blonde hair (like his,), green eyes (like his,), and an impish smirk on her face.
“Are you lost? You look lost to me,” She grinned.
“Oh no, i'm just chasing someone,”
“Who, the girl in black? Dark red hair? Several weapons lining her pants?”
“Yeah, how did you know?”
“She’s the only other person here besides us,”
“Oh, well then,” Scotty felt super awkward.
“Excuse me, i haven't introduced myself, my name is Nicole Whisper, but you can call me Nick.”
“My name is Scotty Scatterkoff, prince to the kingdom of Zilloplaq.”
“Interesting, forgive me your highness, i have been out here so long i did not know there was a new prince,”
“What do you mean ‘new prince’?”
“Oh, you haven’t heard? The last prince died of a serious disease. I believe his name was, oh what was it? Oh yes, Lyman Haymish, interesting fellow, didn’t like him personally, but he was okay at what he did.”
“Well it has been nice talking to you, but i really should get going!” Scotty tried to push past her.
“What did she take from you?” Nick demanded.
“All my silver coins, bu-”
Nick quickly covered his mouth with her hand, and in the other sat a small pouch of silver coins, exactly like Scotty’s pouch.
“Wha? How did you?”
“I stole it back for you, Vulpine won’t know what hit her,” she placed her hands on her hips.
“Gee, thanks,”
“No problem, i have somewhere to be, so i’ll be seeing you!” She ran off.
“Wow,” Scotty breathed.
Who was that? A girl just ran past me and nearly ran me over!” Edith stomped her foot. “I mean the nerve of some people!”
“That was just Nicole er, Nick,”
“Nicole Whisper?” Edith eyed him suspiciously.
“Yeah, how did you know?”
“Dont listen to her, she can't be trusted, no matter what she says it's a lie.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“I’m saying, she’s evil, she’s cruel, she’s deceptive and a cheat.”
“But she got me back my silver coins! She cant be that bad!”
“she is, come on, there’s a field over there, i can become a dragon and we can find my mother.”
Scotty followed her but was constantly looking back hoping Nick would suddenly appear and wave at him or something. But all he saw was the lush green forest, growing smaller as they went on.

pt. 10

Scotty felt like throwing up that night after the meal. Turns out that Pierson’s family were vegetarians. So instead of Pork, the pig skin was filled with pig slop, you know, the stuff that the pigs eat. Scotty started spitting out rotten carrot pieces.
“What's up?” Edith walked in.
“Oh you know, the usual.”
“Meaning?”
“Having the absolutely horrifyingly stupid day!”
Edith sat down beside him and patted him on the shoulder. “We all have bad days,”
“Yeah, I guess it’s not the worst i've had,”
“I’ve had too many to count, over all though i’ve probably have had some bad years of my life, most likely over half of my life has been bad, that would be close to, um, 4,550 years.”
Scotty stared at her.
“But you’re only nine!”
“Nine and a half,” she corrected him. “That's in human years.”
Scotty’s eyes grew wide. Was he sitting in a room with a psycho maniac chainsaw murderer alien? Slowly he started to creep away.
“Dont worry, i won't hurt you, I’m only an elf, not an alien,” she giggled as if she could read his mind.
“An elf? That’s pretty cool, sorry I was a little scared,”
“Eh, that’s fine, but its also why i have no friends, whenever i tell someone my secret they run for the hills and never come back, once one of them even had alien control on my tail.”
“You have a tail?”
“Well, yes but it's an expression.”
“What does it look like?”
Edith untied her sash to reveal a long, epic looking, red tail with fire at the tip.
“It allows my to turn into a dragon, but when the fire burns out, that means i’m stuck in whatever form i'm currently in.”
“Well why dont you fly around everywhere as an epic dragon instead of riding on Fierce?”
“Alien control, monster control, Dragon busters, you name it! They are all after me.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“You asked! Also I felt like I could trust you, you are the closest friend i’ve had in forever!”
Scotty turned pink. Just then Vulpine burst into the room and started dancing around.
“May I help you?” Edith grunted sarcasticly.
“I have welcome gifts for you guys!” she winked and threw boxes at them.
Scotty and Edith just stared at them.
“Go on! Open them!”
Slowly Scotty peeked in and jumped back as a snake slithered up his shirt.
“aaaaaaauuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!” he shouted.
Edith stared at him and Vulpine fell to the ground with laughter. Hearing the commotion, Harley burst in and started pointing at things.
“Whats going on?!” she shouted in her sister's ear.
“I put snakes in their gift boxes!” She gasped, clutching her chest.
“Really! That's great! I have taught you well, come, let's go steal something expensive!” She ripped off her clothes superman style to reveal a black ninja suit underneath. Vulpine then did the same and followed Harley out the window into the shadows of the dark night.
“Uh, what just happened?” Edith twisted her face as the smell of blood wafted up her nostrils. “Whats wrong?! I smell blood!”
“I think it bit me,” Scotty felt stiff.
Edith saw the snake slither toward her and quickly incinerated it with her super awesome fire breathing powers.
“That was a Belcher’s sea snake, the most venomous snake known to the world, this is bad, we have to get you to my mother, she can heal you.”
“But we have to get back to my kingdom!”
“You won’t survive the journey unless we get you a cure! Come on!” Edith dragged Scotty out the window and morphed into a super sick, super cool fire dragon.
“Get on!” she commanded him.
Scotty climbed on and held on for dear life as they blast off at the speed of sound (because light is too fast for this story.).

pt.9

They arrived at the castle where Pierson lived with his father the famous knight Peter Mannering. Pierson hopped off of Fierce and helped Edith down, pretending to be a gentleman and winking at her, his blinding white teeth shined. Fierce growled at him angrily then muttered in his ear, “Stay away from her, I’m here to protect her from idiots like you!”
“Fierce! Be nice!” Edith snapped at the dragon.
Slowly he slunk away and roared, “Whistle if you need me!” as he flew away toward the sun.
“Come on then!” Pierson held out his arm for Edith to hold. Edith giggled and grabbed it.
“Oh, i wish i had known ahead of time so i could dress for the occasion!”
Scotty rolled his eyes. Slowly he turned to see a shadow dash through the bushes.
“What was that?!” he yelled.
“What?” Edith fumed.
“OH the shadow? Oh, don’t mind her, that’s just my sister, Vulpine.” Pierson sighed. “Hey Vulpine!”
The shadow leaped from the bushes and tackled her older brother. Standing up, she brushed off her dark clothes and crossed her arms.
“Hi,” she grinned. “I’m Vulpine, that means ‘like a fox’ I’m Pierson’s sister.”
“Ugh, little sister,” Pierson groaned.
“I’m not that much younger! only by fifteen minutes!”
Edith hissed and shot ice at Vulpine. Vulpine quickly deflected them with her metal wristbands.
“Magic proof! Pretty sick huh?!”
Edith just turned away and started grumbling.
“Whats all the commotion?” a beautiful girl walked toward them and waved. She had long golden golden hair and soft peach skin. “Hello,” she said. “My name is Wynflaeth, it means beautiful and fair, i am Pierson and Vulpine’s older sister.”
“Hello Wynflaeth, my name is Prince Scotty Scatterkoff.”
“Hello Scotty, Oh! Hello Edith! Its very good to see you are doing well.”
“Hi Wyn, whats up?” Edith ran over and hugged her friend.
Scotty was even more confused now.
“Come, you must come and meet the family! And you should join us for supper!”
Wynflaeth and Edith started walking toward the castle.
“Well? Come on! We need to put your horse it the stable.” Vulpine grumbled and took Felicia’s reins.
“Come, she will take care of her, i want you to meet my family!”

When Scotty and Pierson entered the castle there was a grand fanfare. Turns out everyone knew that a prince was here and wanted to honor him. Scotty just blushed and slumped over. In the main dining room there were several lines of family members and servants.
“Welcome to the castle!” a maid with brown hair greeted Scotty and curtsied majestically. “My name is Marigold.”
“My name is Scotty.”
“Hey!” something strong slapped him on the back and he fell face forward.
“Sir! Please do be more careful!” Marigold gasped.
“Aw, don’t mind her, I’m Carnell, Defender of this castle!”
Scotty stared in awe at the bulky mass of muscles that was talking to him.
“Um, maybe you should go sit down sir, the food is coming out.” Marigold pushed Carnell out of the way. “You should sit as well young prince.” she led him to a table as long as a football field.
“Allow me to introduce my family.” Pierson pointed to everyone one by one. “First my brothers, Braxton, Brockton, Caldwell, Colton, Dalton, Darwyn, Devon, Drake, Egbert, Galore, Garrett, Golding, Hyde, Jarold, Jerrard, Kolby, and Maven. And my sisters, Wynflaeth of course, then Fira, Forestyne, Goldwine, Harley, Hawkins, Hazel, Ivy, and Vulpine.”
“uhh….” Scotty stammered. “I got lost at Darwyn….”
Darwyn looked proud as he heard his name.
“Then my mother, Kenley, and my father, Peter the great knight.”
Marigold came into the room carrying a large pig with an apple in it’s mouth.
“Dibs on the apple!” Vulpine thrust herself at it.
“No!” Harley hissed. “you got it last time! Its my turn!”
“No its mine!” Maven screeched.
“I hope you don’t like apples,” Marigold whispered into Scotty’s ear. “They are always fighting over the apple of eternal awesomeness.”
Scotty pondered this thought. Eternal awesomeness? He could be a better knight! He could impress his father!
“That apple is mine!!!” Scotty launched himself into the pile of violent children.
After several hours of clawing and writhing in pain, Vulpine finally got her hands above the other’s. As soon as she tried to take a bite, the apple exploded in her grasp, singing her hair tips.

“And that would be explosion number two today!” Edith giggled.
